Spiritualiteit is godsdienstigheid in de praktijk, met de nadruk op praktijk.
Geloof of gevoel zijn op zichzelf genomen geen spiritualiteit. Spiritualiteit
is het concrete verschil dat geloof en gevoel uitmaken in onze levenswijze.
Spiritualiteit omvat het zich getrouw houden aan dagelijks gebed en schriftenstudie,
wekelijks kerkbezoek, kerkelijke feestdagen door het jaar heen, en ander
godsdienstig ritueel. Ze veronderstelt ook toewijding aan bepaalde waarden,
normen en gebruiken in het dagelijkse leven, en een dergelijke spiritualiteit
speelt op die manier een fundamentele rol om identiteit te verschaffen
en te bewaren.
Bovenal betekent spiritualiteit: leven door de geest (Galaten
5:25). De bijdrage van welke geestelijke stroming dan ook; Mormoons,
Protestants,Katholiek, Joods, Moslim, Bhoedistisch, etc. is dat zij degenen
die haar in praktijk brengen helpt de gaven van de Geest te ervaren, om
inzicht te krijgen en richting te ontvangen, om zich te vervolmaken en
ontvangen talenten in dienst van de ander te stellen. De HLD geloofstraditie
is een van de werkwijzen van de Geest in ons leven om dit alles te realiseren.
De uitdrukking "vrijzinnig Mormoon" wordt dikwijls gebruikt
om intellectuelen aan te duiden die zich met controversiele zaken in het
Mormonisme bezighouden, of degenen die zich hebben gedistancieerd van
het traditionele Mormoonse geloof, maar zich niettemin verbonden voelen
met het Mormoonse erfgoed en haar cultuur. Deze website richt zich op
iets anders, namelijk op vrijzinnige Mormoonse spiritualiteit, ze bied
het vrijzinnige individu de mogelijkheid om naar behoefte en binnen de
Mormoonse beleving aan hun relatie met God te werken en daardoor anderen
tot zegen te zijn.

beautiful, deepens loyalty to truth and kindles love for the good;
it puts the heart in harmony with the moral forces of the world;
promotes delight in the realization of high ideals; and quickens

is the consciousness of victory over self and of communion with
the Infinite. Spirituality impels one to conquer difficulties and
acquire more and more strength. To feel one's faculties unfolding
and truth expanding the soul is one of life's sublimest experiences.
Being true to self and being loyal to high ideals develop spirituality.

Why should a man be baptized? Why should he partake of the sacrament?
How can these things help a man to be a true disciple of Christ?
. . . There is not an ordinance mentioned in the Doctrine and Covenants
or the Book of Mormon that is not inseparably aligned with a religious

righteously.
